San Francisco will hold the first ever San Francisco Fashion Week
in August, presented by Mystery Girl Productions and officially proclaimed by
Mayor Gavin Newson. San Francisco Fashion Week will be held August 26-29, 2004,
at the elegant Palace of Fine Arts Theatre located near the famous Presidio and
Golden Gate Bridge city landmarks.
Attendees will enjoy four spectacular days of fashion, beauty, and parties clebtrating
such recognized fashion designers as Rock & Republic, Fornarina, Liz Bang Swimwear,
Joseph Domingo, Christina Hurvis Couture, Saffron Rare Threads, and more. Long
known as one of the most stylish cities in America, San Francisco will join the
host of leading cities hosting international fashion catwalks.
Mayor Gavin Newsom has released an official proclamation declaring August 26-29,
2004, the first-ever San Francisco Fashion Week. "Celebrating San Francisco as
a fashion destination pays a much-deserved tribute to our many stylish residents
and provides a high-profile and exciting platform for artists, designers and fashion

The city's first official fashion week will be held at the Palace of Fine Arts
Theater and will feature fashion shows by 15 emerging and established designers
from throughout the Bay Area, West Coast and New York.
A "Fashion Week Boutique" will provide shoppers with access to some of the hottest
styles available from more than 50 jewelry and accessory designers. For more information

"Intended to unify the city's growing fashion community, San Francisco Fashion
Week will provide an innovative platform for talented, emerging designers to gain
exposure and showcase their abilities to the media, trade and consumers," said
Erika Gessin, founder of Mystery Girl Productions, the exclusive producer of San
Francisco Fashion Week.
"The week-long series of events will infuse fashion, art, music and culture San
Francisco STYLE!" The designers confirmed to participate in San Francisco's inaugural
Fashion Week are recognized fashion trendsetters including Rock & Republic, Fornarina,
Liz Bang Swimwear, Joseph Domingo, Hieros, Loungewear Betty, Christina Hurvis
Couture, Colleen Quen Couture, Saffron Rare Threads and Starr D. A Student/Alumni
Designer Showcase will feature designs by students of the Art Institute of California
- San Francisco and the Alumni Association of Fashion Institute of Design and
Merchandizing (FIDM).
San Francisco Fashion Week sponsors include NARS Cosmetics, Vespa SF, Stonestown,
Guess Eyewear, W San Francisco Hotel, Zink Magazine, SF Weekly, San Francisco
Magazine, SF Station, POM Wonderful, and Offset Music.
A percentage of the profits from the Fashion Week events will be donated to Dress
for Success(r), a non-profit organization that helps low-income women make tailored
transitions into the workforce. Dress for Success(r) provides interview suits
and career development training to more than 45,000 women in 79 cities each year.
A fundraising event for San Francisco Fashion Week and preview party is planned
for Saturday, July 17, 2004, at the 111 Minna Gallery. This urban arts gallery
will be transformed into a fashion lounge where fashion enthusiasts will meet
the designers, models and event producers while supporting San Francisco's biggest
fashion event to date.
